Privacy statement - BP press

Information about the Controller

BP p.l.c, whose registered office is at 1 St James’s Square, London SW1Y 4PA (registered number 00102498) (“BP”), is responsible for the processing of your personal information. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising in connection thereto.

 

Collection and use of the personal information

Your personal information have been collected by Roxhill Media Limited and stored on Roxhill Media’s journalist database, in accordance with Roxhill’s Media’s own privacy statement (available at https://roxhillmedia.com/privacy-policy). We recommend that you read their privacy statement, as BP cannot accept responsibility for Roxhill Media’s own privacy practices.

 

As a client of Roxhill Media, BP will be able to extract from the database the minimum personal data to enable us to contact relevant journalists about upcoming press releases, or inform them about upcoming PR-related events at BP. Such information will include your name, job title, contact details and twitter account if relevant. When using this information for the purposes stated above, BP will be relying on its legitimate interest which lies in being able to communicate efficiently with any and all professional journalists who could be interested in working with our company.

 

Recipients of the personal information                                                                                           

BP will neither use your personal information for direct marketing nor sell your personal information to third parties. Access to your personal data will be restricted to the relevant members of BP staff responsible for Public Relations. We reserve the right to disclose your personal information as required by law, or when disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, request from a regulator or any other legal process served on BP.

 

Transfer of personal information outside of the EEA

All the data held within Roxhill Media is stored securely on servers located in Ireland.

 

As an international company, BP may store or transfer your personal information to other BP companies around the world. Where this is the case, we do this under a comprehensive, flexible, and global compliance framework which implements appropriate measures and safeguards (including EU standard contractual clauses) to ensure that your personal information is protected in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

 

Rights of access, rectification and erasure

Although BP is the data controller of our own messaging lists extracted from Roxhill Media database, we will not be able to delete or correct your personal information directly on the database. If you wish for your personal data to be amended or removed entirely from the database, please get in touch directly with Roxhill Media by following the instructions set out in their privacy policy.

 

If you wish to stop hearing from BP only, you can email us at any time to ask us to remove you from our lists at the following address: bppress@bp.com. You may also ask us to provide you with access to any personal data we process about you.

 

If you are in the EU, you also have the right to raise a privacy concern with the Data Protection Authority established in the relevant EU country.
