Career summary
Amanda Blanc joined Aviva plc as Group CEO in July 2020 having started her career as a graduate at one of Aviva’s ancestor companies, Commercial Union. Amanda held several senior executive roles across the insurance industry, before returning to Aviva as CEO. Amanda was previously the Group CEO at AXA UK, PPP & Ireland and the former CEO of Europe, Middle East, Africa & Global Banking at Zurich Insurance Group. She has also held leadership positions at Groupama Insurance Company and Commercial Union. Amanda was previously a member of the Prime Minister’s Business Council.
In 2022, Amanda was included in the Financial Times 25 most influential women of 2022 and in January 2023 named as The Sunday Times business person of the year. Amanda was awarded a Damehood in the King’s New Year Honours in January 2024.
Skills and experience
Amanda brings wide-ranging board experience and industry and regulatory connections, having previously been Chair of the Association of British Insurers. Amanda also combines the experience of leading insurance businesses in the UK and across Europe with being Co-Chair of the UK Transition Taskforce, which is developing a gold standard for private sector climate transition plans.
