While we’re mostly in oil and gas today, we’ve increased global investment in our lower carbon, convenience stores and power trading businesses (what we call our ‘transition growth engines’) from around 3% in 2019 to around 30% in 2022 and our UK investment plans include billions for solutions like offshore wind, EV charging, hydrogen and carbon capture, as well as towards maintaining a secure supply of energy through North Sea oil and gas.
And our plans go beyond investment in infrastructure - they also see us supporting the economy, skills development and job opportunities in the communities where we operate. In 2022 bp directly employed more than 15,000 across our diverse businesses in the UK, with our main offices located in Sunbury, London, Aberdeen, Pangbourne and Milton Keynes.
