On top of this, you’ll have a buddy and mentor assigned to you, helping you to navigate the organisation, guide your development and learn what it takes to be successful in your career. We have designed the programme to enable flexibility, whereby we will discuss your development track preference during the application process and how your preference aligns with your performance in the selection process. Once you have joined bp and become part of the trading & shipping development programme we will consider changes to your development track according to your performance.
Innovation & engineering (I&E) is one of bp’s new business groups and is positioned to be an engine for innovation across bp. It plays a key role in redefining bp into a successful, financially resilient low carbon company.
Within I&E, the applied sciences teams will apply science, in combination with engineering, digital and commercial capabilities from across I&E, to help realize our net zero future.
Applied sciences is the home for bp’s scientists; our deep expertise is built on a foundation of world-class laboratory experimentation. Applied sciences is integrated with our customer groups, providing differentiated products and solutions to meet the short-mid term market needs. Applied sciences leads the longer term technology agenda, identifying emerging trends and innovating to develop energy pathways and platforms that will provide the future pipeline for our net zero transition.
The applied sciences development programme will operate in a flexible model that allow graduates to experience the breadth of applied sciences, eg: mission-led placements within country over a period of three years. We support our graduates to get professional accreditation and become chartered engineers and chemists.
No other graduate programme provides you the same breadth of experiences across finance and multiple risk management areas.
Through the programme, you can expect to build a strong understanding of how risk is assessed, measured and actively managed in an energy trading business. Our risk functions are integral to the trading & shipping organisation and interact with the trading benches and other commercial functions to provide an invaluable insight into the management of our business.
Role rotations include credit risk, commodity risk, operational risk and commercial development.
For the upcoming 2024 season, we will not be accepting applications for this programme.
